Episode 126 - Time to Cutter-Bust Visual Benedictions

The other day as I observed the creative clutter on my desk and in my life, I decided that I better get the clutter-busting going. Suddenly I became energized to get rid of any cabin fever I had and begin some spring house cleaning activities. After a week of spring weather in February, I realized that the calendar does not lie. It still is winter for a few more days. This brings memories for me of the spring house cleaning time years ago, and how extensive we went into going into all those expedient tasks. I am still able to recall the years when this spring house cleaning was a major enterprise. One would begin in January to clean closets drawers and kitchen cupboards. And we managed to declutter our home and prepare for the major spring cleaning. Since I failed these tasks in January, I knew I would have to develop a battle plan.

Amid the clutter was Stephanie Culp's book, "How to Conquer Clutter." She tells us to put the following six rules into effect: Don't allow distractions. No phone calls. Stay out of the kitchen. Stop to eat only at meal time. Do one thing at a time. If you are cleaning the closet, just work on the closet. Don't try to keep everything. Learn to let go. "If you're having trouble finding the time to get things done, try reading my first book, 'How to Get Organized' when you don't have the time." Sorry. Didn't have time to read that book. It wasn't amid the clutter. :P

My friend is an authority on conquering the clutter and does workshops on conquering clutter. She claims to be a charter member of "Messies Unanonymous," a militant bunch of folks who are inherently messy. She understands clutter and has researched it by the way I have accomplished removing the clutter from my bedroom - where I always thought it could be hidden from company. This I managed without Stephanie's book on how to get organized.

A clutter-buster to live by: "If you packed it, you're not using it. If you're not using it, it's time to lose it." Stephanie Culp. Have a great day amid the clutter in your life.
