Episode 109: Helping Hands

Last week's column projected some thoughts about preparing ourselves, already, for a 21st century. I realize that many of you may be thinking, “I can only handle one day at a time.” It is in the here and now that we live that “one day at a time.” And as I age, I realized more each day how important servant leadership skills and customer service is a must in the world of competition. I was really made aware of this, even more the other day when I needed to reach out and seek help from customer service. I received the help I needed, and was given respect and understanding. You can be sure I will tell others about the fine customer service and support I received.
We now live in a competitive and high technological world. There is a lot of competition for exceptional customer service, and then delivering this excellent service. This service of excellence will be the key to the future. We can be the advocates, the voices in an organization. It is also a time to turn the problems and challenges we face into opportunities. We can make a difference, and have the power to make someone's day.
A number of years ago I read these thoughts by an unknown author on service. “He has not served, who gathers gold, nor has he served, whose life is told and selfish battles he has won or deeds of skill that he has done. But he has served, who now and then, has helped along his fellow men. The world needs many men today, red blooded men along life's way with cheerful hearts, and helping hands, and with a faith that understands the value of a simple deed to serve another's hour of need.”
Thoughts for the week: Service is the rent we pay for living. Give, and serve. Don't take and preserve. Author Unknown. Have a beautiful day of service!
