Each year on July 4th we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and we celebrate the birthday of our nation. It is a time to renew patriotism, and add a consciousness that our nation needs our prayers. It is a time when we are even more aware of the freedoms we enjoy here in America. With thankful hearts we sing America the Beautiful, and God bless America.

It was John Adams, our first vice president, and second president who said, "It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward, forevermore." John Adams also said, "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Quincy Adams, our sixth president stated, "Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organize the social compact on the foundation of the redeemers mission upon earth, that it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?" As I reflect on this very special Independence Day, I cannot help but think of our founding fathers, and those special great grandparents with their pioneer spirit who believes with all of their hearts and freedom of religion in the advancement of the Christian faith. Patriotism will prevail on this Independence Day, as we fly the flag. And may we never flaunt our independence and celebrate our dependence on God every day, like the pioneers of yesteryear.
