On a recent flight to Texas, I was seated near a retired pilot, and also near a very verbal young mother who's sister will be on that space flight going up on July 9th at 3am. Her sister is making this flight with the First Woman Commander. The retired pilot told me about his mother, who is now in her 90s. I shared the column on Live, Learn, and Tell, where I challenged you my readers to finish the thoughts on...at age 90. This loving son finished the thought, so here it is. "At age 90 I survived at all, but I forgot what it was." Thanks Lenny!
I love to hear the creative thoughts from the readers of this column. As I have stated in another column, you indeed make this column, and I haven't forgotten that thought. And thanks for the emails too. We read and hear so much on radio and TV about computers and the confusion over Y2K. One of my readers sent me a copy of "The Wise Farmer's Computer Guide." It just may open the windows of our mind, as we read this guide.
The Wise Farmer's Computer Guide
Modem - what you do to hayfields. Keyboard - where you hang your keys. Windows - what to shut when it's 30 below. Windows 95 - what to open when it's really hot. Log on - what to put on the stove, when implementing windows. Hard Drive - getting home during a blizzard. Download - getting the firewood out of the pickup. Megahertz - what you get if you're not careful, downloading. Microchips - what little cows leave in your pasture. Crash - what you do after you receive your accountant's bill for your tax return. Computer - what you say when calling your dog "Puter" to dinner. Byte - what pewter does when you don't feed him.
It's time for a bit of humor in our lives. Send me your favorite joke and or family joke. You'll enjoy seeing your favorite joke in this column. I just looked on my calendar and notice that spring is on the calendar for March 21st, when spring begins. Someone told me it is March 20th on their calendar...Anyways. Happy Spring!
