On Thursday, May 2nd we will again observe National Day of Prayer. It is interesting to know that the National Day of Prayer actually traces back to 1775 when the Continental Congress called for a day of prayer. It has become an annual observation for the people of the United States to turn to God in prayer and meditation. During this election year, our prayer thoughts are often for the leaders of our country and nation. I will share a prayer for our leaders I wrote many moons ago.
A Prayer for Our Leaders
Dear Lord...we humbly pray that You will bless and guide our country’s president and stay Lord at his side. Lord bless our beloved church and let her light so shine with Christian noble leaders who seek Your love divine. Give all our leaders wisdom and understanding, too; give them kindness, truth, and courage and bless the work they do. Lord, fill them with Your spirit so we may truly go forward together in the faith. Help us to grow, go, glow.
Many church doors will be open for prayer warriors to enter and pray on this special day. Wherever we are may we observe this special day throughout the United States.
Sometimes we need to pray: Slow me down, Lord. Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind. Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time. Give me, amidst the confusion of the day, the calmness of the everlasting hills. Break the tension of my nerves and muscles with the soothing music of your singing streams that live in my memory. Help me to serve you with Your love.
Warm Thoughts: “Lord, make my life a window for your light to shine through, and a mirror to reflect Your love to all I meet.” Mother Teresa. Life is fragile...handle with prayer!
