Episode 301: Praying for Rain →

It is gardening time. It was a beautiful spring day when 6 year old grandson Trevor and his old grandma decided to plant the garden and then plant flowers in the flower pots. Trevor patiently helped plant the potatoes, better boy tomatoes, carrots, and broccoli. After the completion of the gardening project, we watered the garden. I suggested to Trevor that if it did not rain, he could pray for rain for the planted garden. His reply was immediate and very emphatic. “Grandma, I will leave that job up to you.” And believe me, this grandma is thankful for answered prayer as rain from heaven watered at the planted garden.

Episode 92: Slow Me Down, Lord →

On Thursday, May 2nd we will again observe National Day of Prayer. It is interesting to know that the National Day of Prayer actually traces back to 1775 when the Continental Congress called for a day of prayer. It has become an annual observation for the people of the United States to turn to God in prayer and meditation. During this election year, our prayer thoughts are often for the leaders of our country and nation. I will share a prayer for our leaders I wrote many moons ago.

Episode 52: Reflection in the Mountains →

It is springtime, and the Rockies. After the wintry April of South Dakota, it was a spring retreat for me to fly to the mountains of Colorado. It is always a joy to go see family in Colorado and celebrate special family events. Going to the mountains provides special moments for reflection and meditation. It was many years ago that I reflected on Psalm, 121, a favorite psalm for many and at that time, I penned these lines, which I will share with you.
